DAX Basics — Calculated Columns and Measures

In this lesson, we will learn the basics of DAX in Power BI. We will understand the difference between calculated columns and measures, and how to use basic DAX functions such as SUM, COUNT, DISTINCTCOUNT, and AVERAGE for KPI calculations. ## Lesson objective In this lesson, we will learn the basics of DAX in Power BI. In the previous lesson, we covered Data Model and Relationships. We understood fact tables, dimension tables, primary keys, foreign keys, one-to-many relationships, and star schema logic. Now we move to creating calculations in Power BI. The KPIs we see in Power BI reports are often created with DAX.
